Dr. Hugh Safford’s lab at UC Davis is seeking to hire an undergraduate student to conduct laboratory work on a project involving vegetation, fuels, biomass, and prescribed fire monitoring. The project utilizes plot sampling, destructive biomass sampling, and Terrestrial Lidar Systems (TLS).
This position supports the project "Scaling Up Science-Based Vegetation Treatments for a Wildfire-Resilient California" a collaboration between UC San Diego, CAL FIRE, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and USF.
In Dr. Hugh Safford's lab at UC Davis we are looking to hire new members for different seasonal field crews to collect data on vegetation, forest fuels, and prescribed fire monitoring. For the 2024 season we have planned 4 field teams.
Are you interested in learning more about fire and forest ecology, or in summer field positions? Why consider field work?
If you already know that you want to be a field biologist, or a forest or fire ecologist, or want to test it out
If you are interested in other types of ecology, you can still gain valuable experience learning about vegetation and working on a field crew (for any future position, your ability to work well with crew members will be an asset)
