Dr. Andrea Duane Honored with 2025 UC Davis Postdoctoral Excellence Award

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Andrea Duane, a postdoctoral scholar in the Safford Lab, has been recognized with the 2025 UC Davis Postdoctoral Excellence Award. This prestigious award celebrates her outstanding contributions to wildfire ecology research and her commitment to mentorship and outreach within the scientific community.

Dr. Duane's research focuses on understanding historical fire regimes in California, particularly pre-European settlement burned areas and emissions estimations. Her work aims to provide novel evidence of ecosystem dynamics and assess the impacts of current forest management practices on fire management goals.

The Postdoctoral Excellence Awards are presented annually by the UC Davis Postdoctoral Scholars Association to acknowledge the vital role that postdoctoral scholars play in maintaining research excellence at UC Davis. Each award includes a certificate and a monetary prize.
